Tent Missions - Africa

Our Vision For Africa

Thank you for taking the time to look at this page, we need your involvement in so many ways. Our heart for Africa has always been a major part of our ministry, and now our vision for Africa is growing.

God is exciting us with the things He is calling us to do. We want to try to give you a sense of what God is saying.

The first tent we considered for Tent Missions in Africa was a large marquee that had previously been used by a Christian ministry in Northampton but unfortunately the purchase fell through. (more information).

Almost immediately we saw a Circus Big Top Tent being sold by a Circus company in Cornwall. We inspected it and have bought the tent. (more information).

Our vision was to buy a suitable tent for Tent missions in Kenya, which we have, our next step is to ship it to Kenya and use it to the glory of God. We believe we will see many tens of thousands of people born again through this evangelism tool in Africa.

We have also bought a smaller tent which will hold up to 300 people for small village outreaches. This is a great tool for reaching small villages or places without suitable land for a large-scale outreach. This will also double as a decision tent when we do larger events.

As a ministry God keeps bringing us back to Luke chapter 5 and challenging us let us read from verse 4

When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, “Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.” But Simon answered and said to Him, “Master, we have toiled all night and caught nothing; nevertheless at Your word I will let down the net.” And when they had done this, they caught a great number of fish, and their net was breaking. So they signalled to their partners in the other boat to come and help them. And they came and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus’ knees, saying, “Depart from me, for I am a sinful man, O Lord!” For he and all who were with him were astonished at the catch of fish which they had taken; and so also were James and John, the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not be afraid. From now on you will catch men.” Luke 5:4-10 NKJV

This is our command from God, Launch out into the deep, and set down your nets for a catch. Deep waters are well and truly out of our comfort zones. You cant put your feet down in deep waters, if something goes wrong you are stuck. It is a place of utter dependency up on God. Lord I will do this because you said so but I am totally reliant up on you to succeed. We are not a wealthy ministry; we cannot afford the things we have planned. In fact they are impossible, but to God our impossibilities are His opportunities.

As believers or ministries we cannot please God accept by faith! It is time to make plans based on what God can do and wants to do, rather than what we can manage. Evangelist Reinhard Bonnke used to say “God says, Do not plan with that which is in your pocket, but that which is in my pockets.” We believe that God intends to bring glory to His name through this tent, and we are planning accordingly.

It is time to push out into deep waters!

It is in this passage that we see a catch of fish that is so big they cannot handle it alone. They call to their partners to come and help. God has partnered us with wonderful people in Africa over the years. People who can be trusted and worked with. God spoke to us and said you are like James and John being called over to help in the harvest. Therefore, we intend by Gods grace to set up a new charity called Sons of Thunder Ministries in Kenya. This will be overseen by our partners, and us and a team will be developed to handle the missions and equipment etc. As this grows it will give opportunity to develop in the direction God leads.

We intend to send out team after team of precious believers giving them life-changing experiences in the harvest field. But we cannot do it alone.

I want to ask you to do two things:

  1. Pray, Pray Pray and then Pray for us, I am not in any way saying this lightly we cannot do this without prayer support. May God call the intercessors along side us.
  2. Pray to God and ask him has He enabled you to invest into the kingdom this way. We will need 15,000 pounds just to buy the tent. Then we need to ship it, and so on. Can you help us with this vision?

If so please get in touch or use our donation page. Why not sign up for our newsletter and keep updated as it progresses.

Many blessings to you all

Steve Pilkington
